Our Volunteers

Welcome to R-evolution's dedicated team of volunteers! Our community is powered by individuals like you who generously give their time and skills to support our mission of positive change. Here, you'll find a diverse group of volunteers, each playing a vital role in advancing our efforts.

First up, meet our fantastic Cycle volunteers! These dedicated individuals are the backbone of our bike-centric initiatives, assisting with everything from bike collections and events to the production of bicycles across the Humber region. Their passion for cycling and commitment to sustainability truly drive our organization forward.

Neil Cycle mechanic, events and trainee mentor

I volunteer at R-evolution because I like to give back to society now I am retired. I love having face to face contact with the public, educating and enabling them to cycle.

Pete Cycle mechanic at Hull Community Hubs

I have been volunteering since 1993 and I enjoy working on bikes so this was a natural progression for me.

Nigel R Cycle mechanic at Scunthorpe

I love getting my hands dirty and having a great team atmosphere, it’s a pleasure to give back.

Kevin Cycle mechanic at Scunthorpe

A keen recreational cyclist for the past 30+ years. Retiring in 2022, I looked for a way of giving something back to the local community. Fixing bikes was an ideal opportunity to do something I enjoyed whilst also improving my skills.”

Gary Cycle mechanic at Scunthorpe

I am a retired engineer and keen road cyclist. During 2023 I have completed both level 1 & 2 City and Guilds cycle mechanics course at the R-evolution Scunthorpe hub. I get a great deal of personal satisfaction after you have completely overhauled a cycle with the skills learned to benefit someone less fortunate with a safe to ride cycle.

Patrick Cycle mechanic at Hull University

I've been volunteering at the University Bike Hub since September 2023. During that time I have learned a lot about the maintenance of bicycles, met a wide range of people and helped them fix their bike issues. It has definitely been a positive experience.

Nigel W Bike collections and van driver

I love driving for R-evolution collecting donations and delivering refurbished bikes to their hub network. Great cause, great people and great fun..
Next, let's introduce our horticulture volunteers, the green thumbs behind the beauty of Normanby Hall in Scunthorpe. With their expertise and care, they help maintain the stunning grounds, ensuring that this natural oasis remains a cherished community space for all to enjoy.

Jim Horticulture

Having retired in the past year and now moving to a smaller house I have lost my double garage which was my workshop. I was looking for somewhere to keep me active. I have always enjoyed bikes so when I saw R-evolution and the cycle hub in Scunthorpe it seemed like an ideal place volunteered and to use my skills as well as develop new ones.

Fiona Horticulture

Volunteering has given me the opportunity to meet new people and increase my skill set. Along with working outside and feeling the benefits of increased exercise, giving back to our local community and investing my time in our projects at Normanby Hall have been very rewarding.
Together, our volunteers embody the spirit of R-evolution, uniting to create positive change in our communities. Whether it's pedalling towards a greener future or nurturing the natural world around us, each volunteer brings unique talents and enthusiasm to our cause.

Join us in extending a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers. Their dedication and hard work truly make a difference, shaping R-evolution into the impactful organisation it is today. If you're interested in joining our volunteer team or learning more about our initiatives, we invite you to get involved and be a part of the change we're making together.
