Work, Eat, Cycle, Repeat

With Cycle to Work Day only a week away, many of you may be considering dusting off your bicycles and switching up your commute. Who can blame you? Cycling is a healthier, cheaper, environmentally friendlier mode of transportation, and more and more people are choosing to cycle to work.

Taking place on Thursday 3rd August 2023, Cycle to Work Day is the UK’s largest cycle commuting event. Run by Cyclescheme, the nationwide event aims to get the country’s workforce pedalling rather than driving to work, with a host of incentives and prizes for those who participate.

Walking, wheeling, and especially cycling to work is fast becoming a preferred choice for a work force that wants to bring a breath of fresh air to their daily commute. Not only does an active commute give a massive boost to both physical and mental health, switching from driving to cycling to work can save you on average £750 a year!

Pedalling for Yourself, Pedalling for The Planet

Cycling to work is a great way to start the day.

Beginning the workday with a blast of endorphins, cycling can reduce feelings of stress, depression, or anxiety. Just 20 minutes of cycling cuts your risk of developing depression, increases your productivity, and makes you more inclined to make healthy, positive choices as the day progresses.

Cycling also gives a massive boost to your physical health. Physical activity, such as a cycling commute, can help prevent and manage over 20 chronic conditions and diseases.

On top of this, the environmental benefits of an active commute are massive. Cycling, wheeling or walking to work reduces carbon emissions, increases air quality and reduces congestion in city centres. All this creates a cleaner, greener environment for the entire community.

By switching to an active commute you’ll experience a host of benefits to both you and your local area. So why not ditch the endless traffic jam of a carbon emitting, driven commute and spend your mornings in the open-air cycling, wheeling, or walking to work?
